Bears’ D’Andre Swift Shares Candid Thoughts on His Current Situation

The moves they made in the offseason put them in a position to get over the hump sooner rather than later, setting the table for Caleb Williams to find success right out of the gate.

One of those big moves was getting D’Andre Swift, who left the Philadelphia Eagles and tested free agency as they pursued Saquon Barkley.

HC Matt Eberflus claimed that they wanted a running back who could be a factor in both the short and deep portions of the field, and Swift looked like a natural fit for what they needed.

More than that, the star running back believes he was walking into a perfect situation (via ProFootballTalk):

‘‘It’s a great situation to walk into when you’ve got a rookie quarterback who has great potential and you’ve got guys around him who have been in the league for a couple of years,’’ Swift said, via Patrick Finley of the Chicago Sun-Times.

Talking about his free-agency decision, Swift gushed about the fact that the team was putting all the right pieces around a promising and potentially generational quarterback.

The Bears also added veteran WR Keenan Allen and drafted Rome Odunze.

They’ll join a core of offensive talent that already features the likes of Cole Kmet and DJ Moore.

The Bears also have a solid defense, and while there are some concerns about their offensive line, this team should be one of the most — if not the most — improved in the league in 2024.

Swift is an underrated three-down back and a true workhorse, and having him there should do wonders for Caleb Williams’ development, as he’ll be able to defer to him early and often as he walks his first steps and learns the ropes of the game.
