Tom Brady and Caleb Williams don't necessarily have a ton in common.
They're both NFL quarterbacks, but they're more than 20 years apart in age. Brady was drafted in the sixth round. Williams was drafted No. 1 overall.
But there's no doubt that aspiring NFL QBs like Williams must look up to what Brady was able to accomplish in a legendary career that included seven Super Bowl championships.
So on Friday, Williams got a FaceTime on his phone that surely was an absolute thrill.
There was Brady on the other side. Brady was taking part in a card pull, and he'd just gotten a Williams card.
"Listen, I just pulled one of your cards, autographed," Brady said.
"That's one of the best cards to have of me," Williams replied.
"Is it gonna be worth more or less after this coming season? That's what I wanna know," Brady said.
"A lot f—ing more," Williams replied emphatically.
It is pretty cool to see Williams with the confidence to reply to the G.O.A.T. like that.
Williams showed flashes of superstar potential as a rookie but also had moments of serious inconsistency.
With new coach Ben Johnson now in town, there's a chance for Williams to take the next toward stardom. Brady will be watching.
