Last season, the Chicago Bears took quarterback Caleb Williams with the No. 1 pick. Williams was supposed to come in and help improve the Bears' offense right away.
The only issue was that Williams didn't have a great, offensive-minded coach to work with, and his head coach, Matt Eberflus, was a defensive-minded coach.
Williams struggled in his rookie season, and Eberflus was fired, leading to the team hiring Detroit Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson as the new head coach.
Johnson has done wonders over the past few years with the Lions and will try to do the same with the Bears.
Even though Chicago added a few players this offseason, Cody Benjamin from CBS Sports thinks the hiring of Johnson was the most significant move from the team this offseason.
"The Bears' offensive line investments are a close second here; Joe Thuney and Drew Dalman arriving to take over the interior could do wonders for Caleb Williams' pocket poise," Benjamin wrote. "Johnson is the big fish, though, and his endeavor to both unlock Williams' backyard-style playmaking while keeping the former No. 1 pick in check will be paramount to Chicago's dreams of a true turnaround."
Johnson and Williams will now attempt to get the Bears to compete in the NFC, and year one will be critical, as the NFC North is one of the toughest divisions in the NFL.
