The Baltimore Ravens have seemingly turned a corner over the past two weeks, knocking off the Dallas Cowboys and Buffalo Bills in statement victories led by running back Derrick Henry and a relentlessly punishing ground attack.
However, the Ravens needed those wins to pull back to .500 following an 0-2 start, while quarterback Lamar Jackson could benefit from a third consistently dominant pass-catcher alongside wide receiver Zay Flowers and emerging tight end Isaiah Likely.
It just so happens that All-Pro wide receiver Davante Adams has requested a trade from the Las Vegas Raiders this week. Might the Ravens, among the favorites to represent the AFC in the Super Bowl make a play for Adams?
Could the Baltimore Ravens Trade for Davante Adams?
NFL.com’s Eric Edholm suggests the Ravens could be among the teams in the mix, that make sense for Adams.
“Imagine an offense with Lamar Jackson, Derrick Henry, Zay Flowers, Isaiah Likely and Adams,” Edholm writes for NFL Media. “Suddenly that 0-2 start would feel like a distant memory. Very few teams are equipped to defend that kind of firepower, and the Ravens might even have some young WR talent they could send back to the Raiders in any proposed deal. But this is a cap-strapped team that would have to pull a few strings to make it happen.”
Adams could significantly elevate the Ravens’ offense while adding the kind of big-play explosiveness that Baltimore had hoped and banked on Odell Beckham Jr. providing last season.
Similarly, Jackson’s 70 percent completion percentage on play-action passes ranks third in the league and having the likes of Henry, Flowers, and Adams on the field at the same time gives Baltimore the chance to lean into that aspect of the MVP quarterback’s skill-set even further.
Because of the attention defenses must pay Henry, Jackson’s mobility, and the running game, Adams could feast in Baltimore while elevating the Ravens’ Super Bowl aspirations in the process.
