The Southern Charm cast member gave a new look at his restaurant, which he opened with Craig Conover in 2024.
Austen Kroll is in full admiration of the restaurant that he co-owns with his Southern Charm cast member, Craig Conover. It's been months since their Charleston restaurant, By the Way, officially opened, and Austen is sharing a brand new update on the hotspot.
Austen took to his Instagram Story recently, where he revealed that he was standing outside of the bar and restaurant, which is described as a "neighborhood den." In the photo, Austen captured the simple but chic exterior of the eatery, including the light post and flowering tree along the sidewalk, the tiling on the ground revealing the address of the place (45 1/2 Spring Street), the white paint of the building (with the name of the establishment printed on top of it), and the simple brown wood door with rounded corners.
Even Austen admired how beautiful the exterior is. "She is beauty, she is grace..." he wrote over the photo.

By The Way is Craig and Austen's Charleston restaurant that they co-own with Uptown Hospitality group. This is the second hospitality business that they own together, in addition to the NYC restaurant, Carriage House. By The Way, according to the website, is supposed to be the encapsulation of southern hospitality. "Our shared vision is for By the Way to become a warm and welcoming establishment that guests can tuck into at all hours of the day and night for stellar food and drink, genuine Southern hospitality, and non stop good vibes," the site reads.
Craig and Austen have played a big role in the business, and teased to The Daily Dish in December 2024 about them spending time in the space. "I mean, we're both bartenders in our past lives, so maybe Craig and I will make a guest bartending appearance for a few years here and there," Austen teased.
