At least two Packers starters in danger of losing their jobs to rookies

Green Bay Packers v Seattle Seahawks

It's anyone's guess as to how the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft is going to go. For the first time in a while, every team has their first-round pick, and there's a feeling that, truly, anything goes.

They say to expect the unexpected, but this year it feels especially true with there being so much similar talent between the late-first round and a good chunk of Day 2. For the Green Bay Packers, that fact could work out well considering they don't pick until no. 23 overall on the draft's opening night.

Because there is so much strong talent within the first two days, Green Bay has a good chance of plugging some holes. But, let's not forget the human aspect of it all.

If the Packers address key positions, by default, there will be some veterans who aren't necessarily thrilled with the team's decision making.

Romeo Doubs very well could lose his starting job following the 2025 NFL Draft

There has been a lot of talk about the Packers adding another wide receiver this offseason, and if they go after one who is capable of being that true alpha, then Romeo Doubs is in danger. Green Bay likely won't be taking Jayden Reed out of his slot duties.

Christian Watson is going to be a starter when he comes back from injury. It's Doubs who would be directly impacted if the Packers were to go and draft someone like a Tetairoa McMillan (would have to be via trade-up), Matthew Golden or even one of the talented Day 2 wide receivers like Jalen Royals out of Utah State.

Green Bay could have some strong options at wide receiver in both the first and second rounds, and the fact that Doubs is in a contract year won't be working in his favor either.

Aside from Doubs, the Packers have a couple of cornerbacks who might soon be out of a job. First up, Carrington Valentine is penciled in as a starter assuming Jaire Alexander is gone (which may or may not be happening). He's more of the de facto starter at this point, but a starter nonetheless.

Green Bay could look at players like Jahdae Barron or Will Johnson in the first round, although they might have to trade up for the latter. In Round 2, there are some high-upside cornerbacks like Tre Amos or Darien Porter, for example. Any corner taken on Day 2 would likely relegate Valentine to the bench.

Finally, when all is said and done and in a perfect world, Nate Hobbs will end up being the Packers' starting slot cornerback. That would kick Javon Bullard to the bench as well, who was playing slot previously. This is all in a roundabout way, but if the Packers were to draft another outside corner, then Bullard would likely be cemented to the bench, also assuming Green Bay sticks with Evan Williams at safety.
