Antonio Pierce Makes Eye-Opening Promise Ahead of Meeting With Panthers

During the Las Vegas Raiders' Week 2 win, they finally started to get some things going on the offensive side of the ball.

With that said, though, their offense remained rather one-dimensional.

Gardner Minshew was able to complete some big passes to Brock Bowers and Davante Adams, who each had massive performances of their own. However, one area in which the Raiders were lacking was in the running department.

The Raiders could not do anything on the ground, and as a result, they ended up essentially abandoning the ground game altogether. According to head coach Antonio Pierce, though, that's something we shouldn't expect to happen again moving forward.

#Raiders HC Antonio Pierce on Zamir White:

"I'm gonna keep pumping him up. Our goal is to get 20+ touches with him. That was the goal this week, didn't happen. That's gonna be the goal this week and every week while he's the starting running back and I'm here."

Pierce gives some support for White here, and says that as long as White is his running back, the goal will be to get him at least 20 rushing attempts per game.

For that to happen, though, White has to do something with those carries.

Up until now, White has done absolutely nothing with his opportunities. The offensive line hasn't been perfect, but White has missed several opportunities to break open some big runs.

That's been part of the reason his attempts have been limited. He just hasn't done well enough as a ball-carrier to earn more attempts.

Fortunately for him though, it does seem like the Raiders are rather concerned with opening up the ground game a bit more. If they can finally get White going, that would do a world of good for the rest of the offense. It sounds like Pierce is prepared to do that.
