Analyst Proposes Bold Commanders Trade For Pro Bowl Receiver

Coming off of a rookie Jayden Daniels-led NFC Championship appearance, the Washington Commanders could find themselves being very aggressive this offseason, particularly for a wide receiver.

One of the top receivers who could find themselves on the trade block is New York Jets star Garrett Wilson, who has not appeared to be pleased with the situation in New York over his three year career.

Bleacher Report writer Gary Davenport suggests the Commanders can pair a couple of draft picks to land Wilson.

"An extension for Wilson would undoubtedly be part of the equation here, but the Commanders have more cap space than any team in the NFC ($86.7 million). Washington just fell one game shy of the Super Bowl and has star quarterback Jayden Daniels on a rookie contract. The time to win is now," Davenport writes.

"It'd be worth surrendering the 29th overall pick to gain a proven wide receiver who would (along with former college teammate Terry McLaurin) give the Commanders one of the better one-two punches at wideout in the league."

Wilson has had over 1,000 yards in each of his three seasons in New York, despite incredibly inconsistent quarterback play. He's found the end zone 14 times in his career, half of those coming this past season.

A tandem of Wilson and McLaurin would immediately become of the NFL's best and a nightmare for opposing secondaries.

McLaurin has recorded over 1,000 yards in each of the last five seasons, with his sole miss coming as a rookie, where he had 919 yards in 14 games.

McLaurin became a bonafide red zone threat with Daniels this season, with his 13 receiving touchdowns ranking second in the NFL.

Of course, Wilson's willingness to sign a contract extension with either team will play a major factor. He has one more year remaining on his contract before his team option kicks in for next year. If he is unwilling to re-up with the Jets, the Jets could look to move him.

For the Commanders, they'd be happy to pair him with McLaurin, the tandem would result in a much more open field for the run gamer for Washington, while having a receiver of McLaurin's caliber on the other side will open up lots of one-on-one opportunities for Wilson.
