Alabama football GM Courtney Morgan receives significant raise

   

The compensation committee for the University of Alabama System Board of Trustees met on Tuesday and approved a raise that Crimson Tide football coach Kalen DeBoer gave Morgan, bringing his average annual salary to $825,000.

He will make a prorated $775,000 in the first year, $825,000 in the second year and $875,000 in the third. Morgan’s contract runs through Dec. 31, 2026.

 

Morgan followed DeBoer this offseason from Washington, where Morgan served in a similar role. In his initial contract, Morgan was set to earn $500,000 in base salary during his first contract year, set to run through Feb. 28, 2026.

CBS/247Sports reported Monday that Southern Cal pursued Morgan to be president of football recently.

Other UA athletics coaches also received new contracts that the compensation committee approved on Tuesday, including women’s basketball coach Kristy Curry (five years, $650,000 annually), men’s tennis coach George Husack (two years, $150,000), gymnastics coach Ashley Johnston (five years, $225,000), rowing coach Glenn Putyrae (two years, $180,000), track and field coach Dan Waters (four years, $300,000) and associate baseball coach Jason Jackson (two years, $305,000 average annually).

Morgan has been vital in Alabama landing (what is so far) the No. 2 recruiting class in the country for 2025, per On3.

Morgan not only worked with DeBoer at Washington but also Fresno State. Morgan’s past stops also include Michigan and San Jose State. Morgan is a former offensive lineman for the Wolverines.
