The Seattle Seahawks' 2025 NFL Draft class has already impressed the team and has the potential to make a significant impact on the team for the foreseeable future. Their rookie class' talent goes beyond the players they drafted during the seven rounds of the 2025 NFL Draft. They also have intriguing undrafted rookies who could still play an important role this year and beyond.
One of those players is Jared Ivey out of Ole Miss, who many projected to hear his name called in the NFL Draft. And while that dream didn't come true for Ivey, his chances of making an NFL roster are still very much alive in Seattle.
The Seahawks might have found a diamond in the rough in Jared Ivey
Ivey began his college career at Georgia Tech, where he appeared in 20 games and only recorded 1.5 sacks. He transferred to Ole Miss ahead of the 2022 season and was able to show solid improvements during his three years with the Rebels. He recorded 16 sacks during his three seasons at Ole Miss and finished with a career best seven sacks last season.
His long frame at 6-6 is a valuable asset for a pass rusher, and the Seahawks are hoping their defensive staff can help him get the most out of that to become a successful pro. The Seahawks have been seeking consistency in the pass rush department over the past few years. It led them to sign veteran DeMarcus Lawrence this offseason, but it doesn't feel like many jobs in their edge room are locked up.
Undrafted rookies have an uphill battle to make an NFL roster, but if one is going to do it, I think Ivey has the best shot. With a strong training camp, Ivey can certainly earn a roster spot, but the opportunity in front of him seems even larger. Ivey has the talent and skill set to push his way into a legit role this season, and who knows, maybe he could be a future starter in Seattle. He is definitely someone fans should keep their eyes on come training camp, as they hope the giant chip on his shoulder from going undrafted can create a monster that they are thankful to have on their side.
