8 Reasons I'm Over Grant Ellis As The Bachelor (He's A Wishy-Washy Lead & The Finale's Right Around The Corner - Will He Make The Right Decision?)

I had high hopes for Grant Ellis as The Bachelor season 29 leading man, but his wishy-washy ways and many mistakes have me anxious about the finale, which is right around the corner, and I'm over watching him. When Grant, a now 31-year-old day trader from Newark, New Jersey, appeared on Jenn Tran's Bachelorette season, I thought that he would make the perfect Bachelor. I wasn't surprised when he was announced as the next lead, and I was very excited to watch him continue his journey to find his future wife and mother of his children, which he'd said was his mission in life.

8 Reasons I'm Over Grant Ellis As The Bachelor (He's A Wishy-Washy Lead & The Finale's Right Around The Corner - Will He Make The Right Decision?)

However, after a solid premiere, it was all downhill for Grant from The Bachelor season 9 episode 2 on. I was so disappointed to see that Grant has been an indecisive Bachelor, who's made many mistakes with the women along the way. While I eagerly awaited the premiere, I'm sad to say that I'm now over The Bachelor season 29 and Grant as the lead, and I can't wait for it to end. Unless something changes drastically in the final episode, I'm prepared for my disappointment to continue through Grant's finale because he's too wishy-washy.

1Grant Didn’t Handle Time With The Women Well On The Group Dates

Grant Allowed Certain Women To Dominate His Time

As I watched The Bachelor season 29, I quickly realized that Grant didn't have a backbone. He allowed the women to push him around and dominate his time on the group dates because he was too wishy-washy to stick to his guns and tell them no. During the first group date, Zoe McGrady stole Grant away for an extended period of time, which angered the other women. He then allowed her to take up more time during the nighttime portion of the date, even though she'd already spent so much time alone with him during the day.

While at first I defended Grant, and I figured that if he wanted to spend the most time with Zoe that day and night, it was his decision, I started to notice a pattern of behavior that lasted all the way up until the last group date in Scotland. Rather than spending time alone with the women in order to make deeper connections, at times Grant seemed pushed into conversations because he wasn't strong enough to tell them no.

Throughout The Bachelor season 29, this was the most evident when Grant allowed Carolina Sofia to take up a lot of his time during group dates, while he ignored the other women. I feel that he seemed to want to be her hero and comfort her, but this only painted a bigger target on her back. Because he didn't stand up for himself and put his foot down when women dominated his time, he ended up alienating many of them before he even had the chance to form connections with them. I think that Grant could've handled his time with the women much better.

2Grant’s Public Display Of Affection With Carolina Was Disrespectful

Grant Caused Unnecessary Drama Among The Women

When Carolina won the contest during the R&B singing group date, she had the chance to dance with Grant on stage in front of the other women. However, this somehow turned into her and Grant making out while she straddled him on a couch while the other women watched. The women were appalled, and it threw off the whole vibe of the rest of the night.

I think that Grant's public display of affection with Carolina was disrespectful, and it caused unnecessary drama among the women. However, I believe that it was Grant's lack of a plan that led to this moment. He should've been more mindful of what he was doing, and not just allowed himself to get caught up in the moment with Carolina in front of everybody. I think that he could've handled the situation a lot better than he did. However, he'd also kissed Chloie Costello in front of the other women on the basketball group date, so I saw it as a pattern at that point.

3Grant Accidentally Insulted Litia

Grant Had To Apologize To Litia

The Bachelor Season 29's Litia Garr Confronts Grant Ellis About His Premiere Night Comment

During The Bachelor season 29 premiere, I was shocked when Grant told Litia Garr that she probably didn't get told no a lot because she was so beautiful. Litia didn't seem to mind the comment at first, so I figured that nothing would come of it, but I was glad when she confronted him about it in the following episode because she felt so triggered by it because she said that she was told no all the time, and it was why she was looking for love on the show. I thought that it was the exact wrong thing for Grant to say, but I was happy when he immediately apologized for accidentally insulting her.

However, looking back, I'm realizing that this was just the beginning of Grant saying things that painted him in a negative light. When Carolina was upset after their makeout session in front of the other women, Grant tried to reassure her by saying that she hadn't done anything wrong, but then he added that they were just having fun. The look on Carolina's face as he said that indicated that she was insulted that he only seemed to think of their kiss as fun, and nothing more. I'm over Grant making passing comments without much thought because he hurts the women with his careless words.

4Grant Wasn’t Careful With His Words

Grant Accidentally Misled Rose & Insulted Carolina

The worst example of Grant not being careful with his words was when he told Rose Sombke that he was thinking about her when they were dancing together on a group date. Carolina had won an R&B singing contest on the date, and was awarded a dance with Grant. Rose misconstrued Grant's comments as meaning that he was thinking about her while he was dancing with Carolina.

At first, Grant denied saying this at all, but, during the "Women Tell All" episode, when he was shown the footage, he explained that they'd danced a lot on the date, and he just meant that he was thinking about Rose during the other dances. It was all a big misunderstanding.

Because Grant didn't put enough thought into what he was saying, he accidentally misled Rose and insulted Carolina. I was surprised that someone who claimed to be so intentional with his words made such a big mistake. The fallout from this drama was that Carolina once again ended up dominating Grant's time on a group date in order to get to the bottom of it, thus angering her fellow contestants again, while Rose self-eliminated. There was a whole lot of angst that could've been avoided if Grant had simply been more careful with his words.

Grant also should've been more aware of what he was saying when Dina Lupancu's family didn't participate in her hometown date. During the "Women Tell All" episode, she said that, while watching the show back, she was shocked to find out that Grant had said in his confessional that meeting her family was a make-or-break moment for him because he hadn't said that to her during the date. She cried as she told him that if she made him feel as though he couldn't express that, she was sorry.

However, Grant responded that it wasn't the reason for their breakup, and that he just did what was best for him. I feel that Grant should've been more aware of what he was saying because he hurt Dina's feelings and made her feel as though she'd done something wrong. I wish that Grant had been more forthcoming and honest during his Bachelor journey.

5Grant Led The Women On

Grant Blindsided Several Of The Women

Another reason that I feel that Grant's indecisiveness was such a problem during The Bachelor season 29 was because he led several of the women on and blindsided them during their eliminations. I'm always surprised when women are shocked to be eliminated from The Bachelor because I'd like to think that they see it coming. However, on Grant's season, some women, including first impression rose recipient Alexe Godin, Sarafeina Watkins, and Carolina, were shocked when he said goodbye to them. Looking back on the season, I think this is because Grant gave them false hope that they could be the one for him.

Grant did this by saying all the right things. In his confessionals, Grant has said that he could see many of the women as his future wife, and that he could see himself falling in love with them. I think that this is a big problem because it once again shows his wishy-washy ways. If he could see a future with all of the women, then I believe that he wasn't truly in love with any of them, but rather the idea of falling in love. The fact that Grant is down to his final two women, and he's still not all-in on one of them, is a huge red flag to me. He's leading on either Juliana or Litia.

6Grant Used The Word 'Love' Too Casually

Grant Is Going To End Up Hurting Juliana Or Litia

During Grant's Bachelor season 29 Fantasy Suite dates, he told Juliana Pasquarosa that he was falling in love with her, and he flat-out said, "I love you" to Litia. I was shocked by this because so many leads have made the mistake of saying that they loved more than one contestant, which backfired on them in the end. I think that Grant is using the word "love" too casually, and he's going to end up hurting Juliana or Litia. Although some people have said that it's what they signed up for, I think that Grant shouldn't be so confused at this point that he's telling them both that he loves them.

I think that Grant's assertions about love are also a direct result of his indecisiveness. I don't think that he really knows how he's feeling at this point, but he wants to be married so badly that he's throwing the word "love" around. I'm always fascinated by the fact that, every season except for Brad Womack's first run, when he chose no one, the Bachelor thinks that he's in love, and chooses one of the women.

However, things usually fall apart, as evidenced by the fact that only three couples from The Bachelor are still together (Sean Lowe and Catherine Giudici, Zach Shallcross and Kaity Biggar, and Joey Graziadei and Kelsey Anderson). I think this is because many of them were actually simply in love with love. Too many of them are confused before their proposals, which is very concerning. I believe it would be more realistic if more of the seasons turned out like Brad's instead of the Bachelor forcing himself to choose someone.

7Grant Doesn’t Know If He Wants To Propose To Juliana Or Litia

Grant Is Too Wishy-Washy

I'm so over hearing Grant say that he doesn't know if he wants to propose to Juliana or Litia. I cringe every time that he says that there's an engagement coming up, but he doesn't know who he's proposing to. It's simply ridiculous. I'm also afraid that, if he did propose, the woman will break up with him because she won't be able to handle the fact that he was so torn before the proposal. This is when Grant's wishy-washy personality is really going to hurt him.

I couldn't believe that, after Grant told Litia that he loved her, he questioned in his confessional if he'd said it too soon, but then immediately wondered if he should end the season and pick Litia right then. He was so obviously spiraling at that point. Grant eventually decided that his feelings for Juliana were too strong to let her go, which made me realize that maybe Grant doesn't really love either of them. His indecisiveness could also stem from his fear of hurting one of them, but, as the Bachelor, it's an unfortunate, though inevitable, fact.

8Grant Might Be Using The Bachelor To Further His Music Career

Grant Might Not Be On The Show For The Right Reasons

In my most cynical moments, I begin to wonder if Grant joined The Bachelor season 29 for the right reasons, or if he only became the Bachelor in order to further his music career. Ahead of the premiere, he released a single called "Party Girl," which I thought was unfortunate timing if he wanted to appear to be sincere about his search for love. He's also sung on both The Bachelorette and The Bachelor (including in front of singer Mario), and played the piano. While Grant has insisted that it's possible for him to release music but still be serious about finding a wife, I think he should've waited to drop his single because it made him appear manipulative.

If Grant did join The Bachelor only to publicize his music, then that could be an explanation for why he's so torn between Juliana and Litia. Perhaps he doesn't really even want to be engaged, but he's forcing himself to propose to fulfill an obligation to the show. I hope that this isn't true, but it might explain why he's been so wishy-washy the whole season.

I was really excited about Grant's Bachelor season, but I'm sorry to say that I've been disappointed by it. I'm over how indecisive he's been, and I hope that things change during the finale. Juliana and Litia deserve to have someone propose to them who's not confused or in love with another woman just days before he gets down on one knee. However, I believe that Grant can still redeem himself and make all of his dreams come true if he stays true to himself.
