The 2025 NFL Draft is complete, another year with plenty of Alabama football representation throughout the seven rounds. Back in Tuscaloosa, the Crimson Tide have completed spring football, and the latest crop of NFL hopefuls are prepping for 2025.
As NFL teams welcome their rookies, here are some current names on Alabama’s roster who could hear their names called next year.
Ty Simpson
Presuming of course that Simpson maintains his lead in the Crimson Tide’s quarterback battle during preseason camp, the redshirt junior could be in prime position. All it takes is one excellent season on tape to catch the eye of NFL scouts.
In a perfect world for Alabama, Simpson leading the Crimson Tide to postseason glory before heading to the NFL opens the door for one of UA’s younger passers to take up the mantle for 2026, potentially avoiding a transfer portal departure. Simpson, who seems on paper like a better system fit than Jalen Milroe for what Kalen DeBoer and company like to run, could be set to have exactly the season he’d need, especially with the weapons around him.
Simpson was a five-star recruit out of high school, signaling that at least the recruiting services thought he had first-round potential. In 2026, if he fulfills his promise, he could find himself as an early pick.
Deontae Lawson
Lawson had originally assumed he would be heading to the NFL following the 2024 season. However, a knee injury late in the year ended the linebacker’s campaign and made him rethink entering the 2025 draft.
Instead, he returns to Alabama, the lone captain to return to the Crimson Tide. He’ll have another veteran alongside him at inside linebacker, with Justin Jefferson moving up the depth chart to fill Jihaad Campbell’s spot.
Lawson, who calls the signals for Alabama’s defense, could become one of the SEC’s top defensive players this year. If he does, he’ll be in good position for the 2026 draft.
Germie Bernard
Bernard is another player who faced an NFL decision after the 2024 season. Fortunately for Alabama, the veteran receiver opted to return for another season in Tuscaloosa.
If Simpson has a huge year, Bernard is likely to be a big part of it. He’s part of a talented receiver group that includes Ryan Williams and Miami transfer Isaiah Horton, meaning defenses could have less focus on him.
Bernard has a knack for getting open and making tough catches, both traits NFL teams love.
Kadyn Proctor
Proctor is entering his third season starting at left tackle for Alabama. He improved from his freshman to sophomore season and will be expected to dominate in 2025.
The junior has the size and has continued to get stronger throughout his time at Alabama. He’ll need to make another jump in that department this year but certainly has the potential to do so.
Alabama has sent plenty of dominant offensive linemen to the NFL. Should Proctor step up his game once again, he could be the next one.
Domani Jackson
The veteran of Alabama’s cornerbacks group opted to return after the 2024 season. He missed spring football due to an injury but should be good to go for the fall.
Alabama is deeper in the defensive backfield this season than it was in 2024. Jackson could be a standout among the group.
Jackson had two interceptions and seven pass breakups, along with 52 tackles in his first season at Alabama after transferring in from Southern Cal. A strong showing in 2025 could cement his pro football future.
