The 2025 NFL Draft is in the books, and the Lions had themselves a pretty good outing, walking away with some players who are going to contribute right away. There are still some questions to be asked now that it's all said and done. Here are the four biggest questions that come to mind:
What's the plan for all these young offensive linemen?
The Lions took Tate Ratledge and Miles Frazier, and the answers to what they're going to do seem easy to project. Ratledge should immediately start at right guard, and Frazier should be that off-the-bench do-all type of guy.
But then there's Giovanni Manu. What's the plan there? There was talk a the league meetings at the beginning of April that the Lions might try him at guard. What about Colby Sorsdal? Have we seen enough to make a ruling there? Then there's Christian Mahogany. We're all pretty sure he's fighting for a starting job on the left side now, but can he beat out Graham Glasgow?
Then, to throw a giant question into the middle of this, Lions GM Brad Holmes says the Lions will have both Ratledge and Frazier cross-train at center.
Is Za'Darius Smith coming back?
As I write this article on Sunday evening, the Lions have 89 players on their roster and have one spot left to fill. We know that the Lions have been in contact with him since the release, but we also know that the Lions haven't talked to him in weeks, according to Holmes, right before the draft.
The feeling is that it's in the hands of Smith and his agent right now. We'll see where things go.
How will everyone adjust to the new coaching staff?
This was the biggest question ahead of the draft, and it's still the biggest question after the draft. But we're getting ever closer to getting the answer. Rookie mini-camp is right around the corner, and then OTAs will follow that up. Before you know it, we'll be in the heart of camp and we'll start to get some answers. By then, we'll have answers to all the questions.
