The Green Bay Packers have moved on from a number of veterans over the last few off-seasons. The moves have ushered in a whole new era for the franchise.
This new era may already be competing for a deep playoff run just one year after trading away four-time MVP quarterback Aaron Rodgers.
Now another veteran has a new home, and it’s within the conference.
Former Green Bay Packers Long Time Starter Signs With NFC Foe
Having spent two years with the Chicago Bears, former Green Bay Packers offensive lineman Lucas Patrick is staying in the NFC. The New Orleans Saints have signed Patrick to a one-year deal, Katherine Terrell of ESPN reports.
Patrick, an undrafted free agent out of Duke, spent six seasons with the Packers after signing in 2016. He appeared in 73 games and made 54 starts during the regular season and added five more appearances and three starts in the postseason for the Packers.
Tough and smart, Patrick was the starting right guard for the Packers’ prolific 2020 offense, and he also started 11 games at center in 2021, his final year in Green Bay. He was on the field for almost 2,500 total snaps on offense while with the Packers, including over 1,800 between 2020 and 2021.
Patrick has appeared in 96 games in his career. That includes 54 starts (34 in Green Bay).
In addition to starting at center, Patrick has experience playing all three interior offensive line spots. During last season’s campaign, he played all 963 snaps at center for the Bears.
In 2024, the Packers will host the Saints at Lambeau Field. On Wednesday, the official schedule will be released.
