10-Time Pro Bowl QB Views Giants as 'Option' Amid Aaron Rodgers Rumors - Athlon Sports

The New York Giants didn't trade for Los Angeles Rams QB Matthew Stafford and they don't hold a top-two pick in the coming NFL draft, which would guarantee them the opportunity to secure either Cam Ward or Shedeur Sanders in April.

The job security of both general manager Joe Schoen and head coach Brian Daboll may depend on how successful their next collective decision under center proves to be. Those circumstances have led to reports from the likes of ESPN's Adam Schefter, among others, that New York is considering the 41-year-old Aaron Rodgers as its next signal-caller, despite two relatively disastrous years with the crosstown rival Jets.

However, there is another veteran QB -- slightly younger than Rodgers and also slightly less accomplished -- who views the Giants as a possible landing spot for him in the coming weeks.

"Russell Wilson considers the Giants a potential option for him, should he fail to re-sign with Pittsburgh," ESPN's Dan Graziano reported on Sunday, March 2.

Word out of the NFL combine this week is that the Steelers prefer Justin Fields to Wilson in 2025, perhaps due to his age -- Fields is more than 10 years younger than Wilson -- or perhaps because of his price point.

Rodgers could be a tougher sell in New York than Wilson after his injury issues in 2023 and the Jets' 5-12 record last season. Meanwhile, Wilson led the Steelers to the playoffs.

Despite stumbling down the stretch to the tune of a five-game losing streak, which included a defeat in the first round of the playoffs, Wilson earned his 10th Pro Bowl selection last year at the age of 36.

Like Rodgers, Wilson has also won a Super Bowl in his career, and could serve as a bridge QB in 2025 to a player the Giants draft next month.
